Frequently Asked Questions
What is in Mushroom Design’s MULTIMMUNITY mushroom& vitamin blend?
What are the health benefits of mushrooms?
The predominant health benefits of mushrooms in MD’s supplements are immune support. Where vitamins are the support network, mushrooms are the neighborhood watch. Mushrooms are able to detect when things aren’t quite right in the body, then take action by reporting back to the rest of the body to remain on high alert for mutations such as cancerous or compromised cells.
Can I take Mushroom Design’s MULTIMMUNITY if I am allergic to mushrooms?
No. Because our mushroom blend is organic, sourced in sunny California, it is, well, real mushrooms.
Is Mushroom Design vegan?
Yes, all ingredients, including the capsules itself, are vegan.
Is Mushroom Design gluten free?
Is Mushroom Design dairy free?
Is Mushroom Design organic?
For the most part, yes. All ingredients inside are, but because capsules are manufactured in factories (though completely vegan and chemical-free), the final product cannot be considered organic.
Can I take MULTIMMUNITY if I am pregnant or nursing?
Pregnancy is a different experience for every individual – please consult your doctor for this answer. There are currently not enough readily available studies involving pregnancy with all mushrooms in MULTIMMUNITY for MD to answer this question properly.
What time of day should I take MULTIMMUNITY?
We recommend in the morning – with or without food is just fine.
Can I take MULTIMMUNITY if I’m taking medications?
As a daily vitamin & nutrition supplement, MULTIMMUNITY can be taken alongside most medication. However, we advise seek the professional advice of your medical practitioner for this answer.
Are these mushrooms psychedelic or psychotropic?
No. These are medicinal mushrooms with no cognitive effects. You will not feel immediate effects. As with standard daily vitamins, this is a long-term relationship.
Is MULTIMMUNITY for men and women?
Yes, MULTIMMUNITY is suitable for both males and females.
I have never tried mushroom supplements, where do I start/how much do I take?
MD’s supplements are dosed according to NIH standards for vitamins, and according to decades of research behind medicinal mushroom supplementation. According to the NIH, you only need certain amounts of each vitamin. Therefore, having more than the RDA (recommended daily allowance) means that you are likely wasting your money AND risking your health. The truth is, you won’t really know if you’re having too much or too little – only time can tell. These capsules are dosed at 1 capsules per 60-80 pounds’ body weight. We’re anti-over-stimulation. Mushrooms’ main mechanism of immune support is through provocation; essentially, mushrooms poke and prod at the components of your immune system to make sure they’re on high alert. This means that too much, all the time essentially puts your immune system in overdrive – but you won’t realize it, because the body is so good at adapting. Our mushroom quantities are dosed so that your immune system remains aware, but not on high alert. Note: if it’s cold/flu season, or you’re around sick people, we highly recommend either doubling your daily dose, or purchasing a mushroom supplement that has double the daily amount – but do not continue this for more than 4 weeks at a time.
Delivery & Payment FAQs
How does the refill concept work?
Your first month will arrive in a reusable-for-life glass container, shipped in a tray that is made out of mushrooms, inside a box that is 100% recycled. It will include the pouch of 60 capsules – this is the same pouch you will receive monthly. Throw the box in your backyard (or in a pot in your apartment) and wildflowers will grow (there are seeds in it). Compost the mushroom tray – or let your dog use it as a chew toy in the backyard. It biodegrades within 6 weeks. Compost the refill pouch – it will biodegrade within 1 month. Recycle the shipping container – it’s printed with algae ink and is made with 100% recycled paper – meaning it can go straight into recycling without any extra processing (AKA: no landfill)
- Our vision is a world where conscious consumerism is normalized
- Mushroom Design was born from the desire to prioritize both quality and sustainability – because it doesn’t need to be one or the other. Doing bettermeans employing carbon-neutralizing practices from seed to shelf through the entire supply chain.
- 1. require less packing material to ship, meaning less carbon output
- 2. require less packaging material to ship and create, meaning cost savings
- 3. require less energy (and carbon output) to create than additional glass and/or plastic containers
What do I do with the glass jar?
Unlike many other brands, our glass jars are dishwasher safe (just keep heat dry on low – if you don’t have the option to do that, let the plastic top air dry) – meaning you can clean between refills. We recommend washing and allowing to dry at least 12 hours before refilling.
What do I do with the refill pouch?
Compost it. All materials used to produce the bags comply with both American and European compost standards (EU 13432 and ASTM D6400) and are certified for both home and industrial composting.
Disclaimer: all supplement facts are on the pouch – if you share a home with others and there is a chance anyone else would attempt to put their hands in the *mushroom* jar, please keep the label.
What do I do with the packing foam?
The shipment foam is made of 100% non-GMO cornstarch and dissolves within seconds in water (or can be tossed right outside). Pro tip: use as a confusing and entertaining dog toy, or as a fun activity to do with kids.
What do I do with the refill mailer pouch?
Compost. It’s anti-landfill, so recycle without concern. The mailer is made with 100% compostable material – meaning it can go straight into compost without any extra processing (it’s printed with algae ink – it’s truly chemical-free).

Where does Mushroom Design get its ingredients?
All mushrooms are grown organically in sunny California. All vitamins and mushrooms are vegan, USA-grown (or made), gluten free, dairy free, and synthetic free. Our capsules are gelatin-free, Halal-Kosher certified. Even the color of our beads is natural!
Where does the blue come from?
Why the beads?
One word: bioavailability. Mushrooms, like us, contain both water-soluble and oil-soluble components; their water-soluble (powdered form, in beads) content is rich in beta-glucans, while their oil-soluble (liquid within capsule) content is laden with di-terpenes and tri-terpenes.
Keeping the nutritional content (beta-glucans and terpenes) in their natural states (water and oil environment) allows the body to absorb and handle the nutrients more efficiently and effectively – because why make things complicated? Your body’s got enough to do.
Where’s the credibility behind Mushroom Design’s MULTIMMUNITY?
Our scientists and researchers are top in their field, but we don’t rely on just them for formulation; formulas are derived from decades of historical data and evidence, along with annually updated NIH recommendations. Our final product is 3rd party tested for quality, and all processes through the supply chain follow CGMP standards (Good Manufacturing Practice regulations, enforced by the FDA).
Where is Mushroom Design’s MULTIMMUNITY made?
Sourced, made, and packaged in the USA.
